35-inch tires are the sweet spot for lifted trucks. Aggressive look, serious off-road capability, but still drivable daily. This is the size we install on most of our lifted truck builds at American Fusion Wheels.
35" Tire Sizes Explained
Flotation: 35x12.50R17 or 35x12.50R20 — actual 35" diameter. Metric: 315/70R17 (34.4") or 325/60R20 (35.4"). We typically recommend flotation sizing for the true 35" look.
Pros of 35-Inch Tires
- Aggressive, muscular look that turns heads
- Serious off-road capability — great ground clearance for rocks and ruts
- Fills lifted fender wells properly (looks out of proportion with anything smaller on a 4-6" lift)
- Great tire selection — 80+ options across AT, MT, and RT categories
- Most popular size for Jeep Wranglers, lifted Tacomas, F-150s, and Rams
Cons of 35-Inch Tires
- Requires 4-6" lift — leveling kit is not enough
- Regearing recommended — 4.56 or 4.88 gears for best performance
- 2-3 MPG decrease vs stock
- May need fender trimming or flares depending on vehicle
- Cost: $250-$400 per tire is typical
